Open Positions

Our group is interested in understanding the functions and signaling mechanisms of neuronal growth factors in neural development, physiology and injury responses. Our projects utilize a combination of signaling assays in tissue culture and functional approaches in genetically engineered mice. For recent examples of this research see Ledda et al. Nat. Neurosci. 2007 , Vilar et al. Neuron 2009 and Canty et al. J. Neurosci 2009.

A second major area of interest is in the role of TGFbeta signaling in metabolic regulation. This project aims to understand a novel regulatory signaling network controlling insulin secretion, fat accumulation and energy balance. This new research area has important implications for the understanding of metabolic networks and the treatment of human metabolic syndromes, such as diabetes and obesity. For recent examples of this research see Bertolino et al. and Andersson et al., PNAS 2008.

We are currently seeking innovative and enthusiastic postdoctoral researchers with a PhD awarded within the last 4 years.

Our laboratory is located in a highly dynamic research environment in the Strategic Center on Developmental
Biology for Regenerative Medicine (www.dbrm.se), one of the most vibrant and productive research environments in Scandinavia. Additional information on the work of our group can be found at our homepage zephyr.neuro.ki.se, from where our articles can also be downloaded.

Applications, including CV, list of publications and statement of future interests should be sent to carlos.ibanez@ki.se. Applicants should arrange to have at least two confidential letters of reference sent directly by referees.

Funding is available for an initial period of 2 years, starting any time during 2010.
